Anyone who receives an income that isn’t taxed at source needs to complete a Self-Assessment. These tax returns can look rather daunting, and it can be a headache deciphering all the information and the formats they require. We can prepare and submit your Self Assessment for you and work out what you can claim and how much your final tax will be for the year.
If you are worried about filling in an HMRC Government form or would like a professional to do this on your behalf, you can hand over the responsibility to us. We are highly experienced in the field and have invested in the most up-to-date software to file Self Assessments swiftly with HMRC.
The information you will need to fill in a Self Assessment Tax Return is:
Never registered before.
You will first need to register for Self Assessment, and this will differ depending on if you are self-employed, not self-employed but need to declare income, or if you are in a business partnership.
You can find more information at www.gov.uk
When you have registered, you will receive a unique UTR.
There are different deadlines for sending in returns depending on if you are filling in a paper return or an online return.
In 2021, deadlines have been extended because of Covid-19, but the next deadline for the tax year April 2020 to March 2021 (online) is 31 January 2022. A paper return will be 31 October 2021.
If you are late with your return and payment, there is usually a penalty, but you can appeal against this if you have a reasonable excuse.
